Canesten oral capsule contains the active ingredient fluconazole which is an anti-fungal medication used to treat infections caused by fungi and yeasts. Canesten oral capsule is a single dose treatment for vaginal thrush which can also be used to treat men who are suffering from thrush on the penis. Thrush is the common term for infections of the vagina and penis with Candida species of fungi, in particular Candida albicans. This infection causes inflammation and discharge from the vagina. In men it causes soreness and redness of the penis, tightness of the foreskin, or a white, odourless discharge from the penis.
Adults age 16 to 60 years: Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water (with or without food).
Active Ingredient: Fluconazole 150mg
Do not use if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast feeding. Do not use if you are taking terfenadine or cisapride. Consult your doctor or a pharmacist before use if you are taking any medication other than the contraceptive pill and if you are aged under 16 or over 60.Symptoms should disappear within two days of treatment.If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, see your doctor.
