A single dose of this medicine will kill threadworms. However, it may not destroy their eggs, which can cause re-infection and also infect other people. It is therefore strongly recommended that all members of the family (except pregnant and breast feeding women and children under two) are treated at the same time and that precautions are taken to prevent re-infection.
Adults and Children over 2 years: Take one tablet only. The tablets are orange flavoured and may be chewed or swallowed whole. Crush tablet before giving to young children. In case of re-infection, a second tablet can be taken after 2 weeks.
Active ingredient: Mebendazole 100mg
Side-effects following the use of Ovex only occur in very rare instances and are usually minor, such as short-lived stomach ache or diarrhoea, or allergic reactions (such as rashes, shortness of breath or itching).
Not recommended for children under 2. Do not take with Cimetidine or Metronidazole. The tablets should not be taken by women who are pregnant or think they might be pregnant, or when breast feeding. If you think you may have had an allergic reaction to this medicine or any of its ingredients in the past, do not take without consulting your doctor.
