Lyclear Dermal Cream is used to treat scabies and crab lice. Permethrin belongs to a group of medicines called the pyrethroids which are anti-parasitic agents.
This preparation is for external use only.Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. It is advised that rubber gloves be worn by people giving repeated applications or treating large numbers of individuals e.g. clinic nurses. Apply to cool, dry skin. If applying after a warm bath, wait for skin to cool first. The whole body should be washed 8-12 hours after application for scabies and 24 hours after application for crab lice. This medicine should be reapplied to the hands if they are washed with soap and water before the treatment period is complete.
Active Ingredient: Permethrin (5% w/w). It also contains coconut oil, glyceryl monostearate, macrogol cetyl ether, cetomacrogol 1000, isopropyl myristate, lanolin alcohols/liquid paraffin mixture, butylated hydroxytoluene (E321) glycerol, formaldehyde solution, carbomer, sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Like all medicines, Lyclear Dermal Cream can have side-effects, although these are rare and usually mild.
Occasionally burning or stinging of the skin occurs, but it is usually slight and passes quickly. Treatment of scabies may result in continued or increased irritation for a short while. This may show as redness of the skin, a rash or itching. You might find that the itching you have been experiencing continues for up to 4 weeks after the treatment with Lyclear Dermal Cream. This is normal and is caused by an allergic reaction to the dead scabies mites. It is not a sign that the treatment has failed. If you notice any side-effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use Lyclear Dermal Cream if: You have ever had an allergic reaction to Lyclear Dermal Cream, Permethrin, other pyrethroids or pyrethrins, or any of the ingredients listed above.
Take special care with Lyclear Dermal Cream if: You are currently .using a type of medicine called corticosteroids. You are using this cream to treat several others, you may wish to wear gloves. Please talk to your doctor before using this medicine if these statements are applicable to you.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Lyclear Dermal Cream in pregnancy or whilst breast-feeding. Important information about some of the ingredients in Lyclear Dermal Cream Lyclear Dermal Cream contains butylated hydroxytoluene which may irritate skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It also contains formaldehyde which may cause allergic reactions.
